Central Ohio Compact
The K-12 District Dashboard provides a series of summary graphs showing aggregate process and outcome measures of students from central Ohio school districts. The In-Depth Analysis provide more detailed graphs showing aggregate process and outcomes measures of students from central Ohio school districts. In-Depth Analysis' is available for Demographics, College Credit, and Completion. The reports can be viewed from the District Dashboard. Missing data represents < 10 reporting. This eliminates possible re-identification.

The Central Ohio Compact dashboard data analysis is done primarily using data sources available through the Ohio Longitudinal Data Archive (OLDA)
Please note for all graphs on this website, groups of less than 10 individuals are redacted to protect possible re-identification.
Higher Education Information System (HEI) – detailed student-level data collected by the Ohio Department of Higher Education. Includes all students who enroll in public higher education in Ohio.
Unemployment Insurance (UI) Wages and Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) – employee-level employment and wage data and firm-level industry data reported each calendar quarter by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS). Includes wages for all employees within the state of Ohio whose employers are required to file with the unemployment insurance tax system. Excludes workers outside of Ohio, Federal employees, and the self-employed.
Ohio Technical Centers – detailed student-level data collected by the Ohio Department of Higher Education. Includes all individuals who participate in Ohio Technical Center programs in Ohio.
These data sources can be joined at the individual level using a unique identifier. By joining these data sets, we can follow an individual who enrolls in an Ohio public institution of higher education through enrollment to graduation and then to employment in Ohio.
Ohio Department of Education Report Card data Power User Reports - publicly available detailed data about each school district and community school in Ohio, as well as each high school-level career-technical education program.
The OLDA is a project of the Ohio Education Research Center (oerc.osu.edu) and provides researchers with centralized access to administrative data. The OLDA is managed by The Ohio State University's Center for Human Resource Research (chrr.osu.edu) in collaboration with Ohio's state workforce and education agencies (ohioanalytics.gov), with those agencies providing oversight and funding. School District outcomes are calculated using data reported by the Ohio Department of Higher Education in HEI. As a result, all graduating district and year information used in these charts is reported by the enrolling higher education institution.
Students Enrolled in Ohio Public Higher Education - Graduates of the school district who are enrolled in Ohio public higher education in the school year following high school graduation. For example, the 2010-11 data point represents all district graduates from 2010 who enrolled in any Ohio public post-secondary institution, for at least one term, during the 2010-11 school year.
Enrolled in Developmental Courses - Graduates of the school district who are enrolled in Ohio public higher education institutions in the school year following high school graduation, and enrolled in at least one developmental course. Developmental courses are courses defined by ODHE as developmental for purposes of reporting to HEI.
Higher Education Completion within Six Years - Graduates of the school district who are enrolled in Ohio public post-secondary institutions in the school year following high school graduation, and completed either a certificate, an associate degree, or bachelor's degree within six years of first post-secondary enrollment. The graph shows the highest degree/certificate attained during the six-year window. Graduate degrees are excluded.
Enrollment - High school (grades 9-12) and grade 9 (entering) enrollment, defined as average daily membership (ADM) for the school district as reported by ODE. For 2013-14 and prior years, the ADM consists of the average number of students attending public school within the district during the first week of October. Starting in 2014-15, the ADM was calculated based on the percentage of the school year each student was enrolled in public education and residing in the district.
Entering Student Characteristics - Number of entering (grade 9) students who (1) are economically disadvantaged, (2) have a disability condition, or (3) have limited English proficiency status (LEP) as defined by ODE. Economic disadvantage is defined by ODE as meeting one of the following criteria: (a) eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, (b) resident of a household with a member who is eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, (c) have a guardian who receives public assistance, or (d) have a guardian who meets income guidelines for Title I, and has completed the Title 1 income form. ODE defines a student as having a disability condition where the student has been officially identified with a disability by an evaluation team report, by an individualized education program, and with a valid disability condition option.
Mobility* - K-12 student mobility between schools (school mobility) and into/out of a district (district mobility) as reported by ODE. School mobility is defined as the students who have been in the same school for less than a full academic year. District mobility is defined as students who have been in the same district for less than a full academic year. ODE only reports mobility as a percentage; we used district-wide average daily membership to calculate the number of students who meet these mobility definitions. *Data source no longer available.
Earned College Credit in High School - High school students (grades 9-12) who earned college credit from an Ohio public post-secondary institution. This information was collected by the Ohio Department of Higher Education, so identifies district by enrolling higher education institution. The percentage is calculated using total 9-12 enrollment for that same school year. Percentage may be lower than expected if college credits were only reported for 12th grade students.
Prepared for Success - Students who take the ACT and receive a remediation-free score, as reported by the Ohio Department of Education. Remediation-free scores can be found at http://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Ohio-s-Graduation-Requirements/College-and-Career-Readiness-Test.
Graduated in Four Years - Students who graduate within four years of beginning 9th grade, as reported by ODE. The final adjusted cohort ODE used to calculate the percentage includes the students beginning 9th grade four years prior, plus students transferring in, minus students transferring out.
Race/Ethnicity - High school (grades 9-12) student enrollment in the school district disaggregated by race and ethnicity, as reported by the Ohio Department of Education. Smaller race categories such as Asian, American Indian, and Multiracial were combined to create an “other” category because small numbers would have resulted in the race categories being unreportable. Data points representing groups of less than 10 individuals are redacted to predict against re-identification.
Gender - High school (grades 9-12) student enrollment in the school district disaggregated by gender, as reported by the Ohio Department of Education.
Economic Disadvantage - Number of high school (grades 9-12) students who meet any condition of economic disadvantage as reported by the Ohio Department of Education. College Courses Attempted and Passed - For each graduate who earned college credit in high school, the number of courses taken and number of courses passed at Ohio public higher education institutions while the student was enrolled in high school. The year indicates the year of high school graduation.
Students Enrolling in Post-Secondary who Earned College Credit - Compares the total percentage of graduates from the district who enrolled in Ohio public higher education versus the percent of graduates who had previously earned college credit while enrolled in high school who enrolled in Ohio public higher education.
Enrollment/Completion figures are calculated using data reported by the Ohio Department of Higher Education in HEI. Graduating district and year information is reported by enrolling post-secondary institutions.
Post-Secondary Enrollment* within One Year - District high school graduates enrolled at an Ohio public post-secondary institution during the year following graduation.
*Enrollment is defined as enrolled in at least one course for credit.
Year One Retention - District high school graduates enrolled at an Ohio public post-secondary institution during fall following graduation who were also at an Ohio public post-secondary institution during spring of that same school year and/or the fall of the following school year. Enrollment is defined as enrolled in at least one course for credit.
Year One Credits Attempted and Passed - District graduates who enroll in Ohio public post-secondary in the first year following graduation, number of credits that were attempted and successfully completed, or the percentage of credits successfully completed.
Associate’s Degree or Certificate in Four Years - District graduates who enroll in Ohio public post-secondary in the first year following graduation, number who earn an associate’s degree or certificate in the four years following first enrollment.
Bachelor’s Degree in Six Years - District graduates who enroll in Ohio public post-secondary in the first year following graduation, number who earn a bachelor’s degree in the six years following first enrollment.
Post-Secondary Enrollment within One Year - District graduates enrolled at an Ohio public post-secondary institution during the year following graduation. Enrollment is defined as enrolled in at least one course for credit. Developmental courses are identified in HEI through a course-level variable, which means that additional lab or other non-credit assistance will not be identified in this graph.
Enrolled in Post-Secondary Developmental Courses - District graduates enrolled at an Ohio public post-secondary institution during the year following graduation who enrolled in at least one developmental course. Exceptional Programs - High school (grades 9-12) students who are identified as (1) gifted, (2) limited English proficient, and/or (3) disabled as reported by ODE.
